K S Elliott: Indie Fantasy Author Writing Hope, Grief & Prophecy
If you’re looking for an indie fantasy author who blends magic, grief, prophecy, and emotional depth into unforgettable stories — K S Elliott is one to watch.
At Book Besties Bookstore, we believe fantasy isn’t just about world-building. It’s about hope. Healing. Escaping reality just long enough to understand it better.
And that’s exactly what K S Elliott delivers.
From Personal Healing to Publishing Fantasy
For K S Elliott, writing has always been deeply personal.
Before publishing novels, she expressed herself through music and poetry — creative spaces where she could feel seen and understood. Publishing wasn’t always part of the plan. In fact, she never thought her work would leave her private world.
But at the end of 2024, something shifted.
During a difficult season in her life, she began writing Alexia’s story — a story that would eventually become part of the Redemption of Omnia duology. That process didn’t just create a book.
It helped pull her through.
That’s the power of fantasy when it’s written from the heart.
A Fantasy Author Through and Through
K S Elliott proudly describes herself as a “fantasy girlie through and through.”
Her work spans:
-
High fantasy
-
Magical realism
-
Portal fantasy
-
Urban fantasy
Magic isn’t just a trope in her books — it’s a necessity.
She believes fantasy gives readers hope. And in a world that can feel heavy, hope matters.
At the same time, her stories are grounded in emotional realism. She writes grief because she knows grief. She writes healing because she’s still navigating it. That layered emotional depth gives her fantasy worlds weight and authenticity.
If you love fantasy books that balance magic with raw human emotion, her stories will resonate deeply.
The Redemption of Omnia Duology
K S Elliott chose to self-publish her first fantasy books, even after querying a handful of literary agents. From the beginning, she felt strongly that self-publishing the Redemption of Omnia duology was the right path.
Her latest release, Prophecy of the Seven, follows the events of Curse of the Seven and delivers a finale to Alexia’s story that readers won’t see coming… or maybe they will, but won’t want to believe.
Expect:
-
High-stakes prophecy
-
Twists that hurt (in the best way)
-
Emotional character arcs
-
Magic woven with destiny
-
A conclusion that lingers
This is fantasy that isn’t afraid to break your heart before putting it back together.
What’s Next: A Secret Urban Fantasy Series
While the Redemption of Omnia duology wraps one journey, K S Elliott’s next project is already in motion.
Her current work-in-progress is a top-secret urban fantasy trilogy. What we do know?
It’s set in the modern world.
It’s darker.
And one of its comp inspirations is Lucifer.
Even more interesting? The idea sparked while listening to the song Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri.
If that doesn’t scream morally grey energy and emotional intensity, we don’t know what does.
The Writing Process: Planning, Discipline & Redbull
K S Elliott aims to write at least 1,000 words a day. Consistency is key.
While she once relied more on instinct — knowing only the beginning and end before writing — she has grown into a structured planner. Not overly rigid, but clear enough to know where the story is heading.
And her non-negotiable writing tool?
Redbull.
Because saving fictional worlds requires caffeine.
The Reality of Indie Fantasy Publishing
Like many self-published fantasy authors, she discovered that writing the book is only half the battle.
Formatting. Distribution. Backend systems. Learning industry tools.
Doing it alone can feel overwhelming — especially before discovering programs like Vellum.
But the most rewarding moment?
Fan art.
When readers love your characters so much they bring them to life visually? That’s a kind of magic no publishing contract can guarantee.
Advice for Aspiring Fantasy Authors
Her advice is simple, powerful, and something every writer needs to hear:
Stop calling yourself “aspiring.”
If you write, you are an author.
You may not be published yet — but that doesn’t make you less legitimate.
She also encourages new writers to:

-
Build your community early
-
Let readers grow with you
In the indie world, connection matters just as much as craft.
